Whitewashed hilltop guesthouses oozing Cycladic charm and tranquility
This tiny cluster of traditional cube-shaped villas on the Chora's outskirts combines a minimalist Mediterranean style with a sustainable sensibility. In a nod to the Cycladic vernacular, whitewashed walls, windows popping with an olive-green trim, and expansive sun-drenched terraces are flooded with herb gardens and potted plants.
Rooms are beautifully pared-back with built-in sofas, Coco-mat beds, sculpted driftwood, and splashes of color throughout—the perfect island sanctuary to slow down and rejuvenate.
“Building design was based on the principles of bioclimatic architecture thus ensuring natural light and ventilation and keeping the temperature low.”

the look.
Interiors are stripped back to allow the breathtaking outdoors to take over, yet still delightfully homey, with small wall nooks boasting collected shells and driftwood, oversized black and white photographs, and comfy beds draped in pastel-colored cotton throws. Wraparound stone terraces perfumed with lemon, fig, and olive trees overlook the magnificent views of the dazzling Aegean.
the experience.
chill + detox
Chill with sundowners and tasty treats on the terrace.
savory local treats
Feast on delicious homemade breakfasts with seasonal fruits, artisanal cheeses, and creamy Greek yogurts. And don’t miss psimeni raki (a sweet local drink in Amorgos).
access to sites
Wander around the Chora’s maze of alleys and pop into some of the cutest cafes and tavernas. Be sure to check out the island’s Archeological Museum (housed in the gorgeous Gavras Mansion built in the 16th century in the Venetian architectural style) and the castle (to enter, get its key from Loza Cafe in Chora). Next, mingle with the locals in the lovely mountain villages of Potamos, Tholaria, and Langada. Finally, visit the Monastery of Hozoviotissa (the second oldest monastery in Greece), literally carved out of the side of a sheer rock face.
hikes + beaches + villages
Hike up to the cluster of windmill ruins to enjoy the stunning view. For longer hikes, try the Amorgos Trail Challenge (developed through an association with a mission to maintain the island’s hiking trails, protect the environment, and preserve local culture and traditions). Or simply follow the countless goat tracks leading down to isolated beaches — Ammoudi, Mikri Glyfada, Halara, and Plakes. Be sure not to miss the town beach of Agia Anna (the Big Blue filming location).
the impact.
Owner Nikos takes great pride in the hotel’s sustainability practices and loves informing guests how the hotel pushes its eco-credentials.
Eco-design
The building design was based on the principles of bioclimatic architecture, ensuring natural light and ventilation. Stone walls were all constructed in compliance with the traditional craftsmanship rules for dry stone wall construction. State-of-the-art external windows and door frames were built to maximize insulation and reduce the need for air conditioning.
Culinary sustainability
The hotel sources all food locally.
Waste, water, and energy management
Solar thermal systems are installed for water heating; rainwater collection tanks for watering the plants and for cleaning. And the hotel is adamant about recycling.
