Villa Anassa’s Chapel

Kythira, Greece

Greece / Kythira / Villa Anassa’s Chapel

A delightfully romantic Byzantine chapel on the edge of a quaint, unspoiled hamlet in northern Kythira

This tastefully renovated Byzantine chapel sitting snug at the end of a winding driveway next to a Tuscan-looking villa offers the perfect romantic hideaway. The chapel is defined by warm almond stone, red-tiled roofs, exposed stone walks, and wonky wood beam ceilings. Interiors celebrate all things beautiful, decorated with exquisite Persian rugs, antiques, quirky artwork, wrought iron chandeliers, and loads of vases brimming with handpicked hydrangea.

Charming French doors open onto a lovely stone terrace framed by hanging plants, wild lavender, and flowering lemon trees.

the look.

Thanks to owners Petros and Clive (who we adore!), the house is truly an expression of all things beautiful and a haven for inspiration. Interiors are a delightful Wunderkammer of curated artworks, collectibles, trinkets, and curiosities that together create a narrative of whimsical beauty.

The chapel is surrounded by lush gardens, olive trees, a delightfully understated pool (shared with the main house), and exceptional sea views. The cottage has its own kitchen, comfy hangout spaces, a loft bedroom, and a private patio flooded with oversized planters and flowering vines.

Eco-design

Constructed in keeping with the traditional design elements and architecturally designed with high regard for aesthetics and sustainability. The outside walls have been plastered using the “pattito” method and are lime-washed with natural ochre pigment resulting in a beautiful patina. The use of baltic limestone flagstones, marble, and “kalderimi” flooring is all in keeping with traditional design elements.
