Raw luxury on a far-flung corner of Folegandros
Book through us and unlock exclusive little luxuries!
Perched on the windswept southern coast of Folegandros, Gundari Resort redefines luxury in the Cyclades. Rising out of the Aegean like a natural extension of the island’s rugged cliffs, this secluded sanctuary is as much a part of the landscape as the ancient farm terraces that cascade to the sea below.
Unlike its bustling neighbors, Santorini and Milos, Folegandros is a haven of tranquility, where unspoiled beauty meets understated elegance. At Gundari, every detail is designed to immerse guests in the timeless rhythms of the island while delivering an elevated experience of privacy and indulgence. And we love that Gundari’s commitment to sustainability runs as deep as its foundations.

“From its inception, Gundari was designed and built with sustainability in mind.”

the look.
Gundari’s design philosophy is deeply rooted in its surroundings and the Aegean takes center stage. Each suite and villa is a private retreat, with sun-drenched terraces and infinity pools offering uninterrupted sea views. The resort’s architecture, crafted from local limestone, mirrors the rocky terrain, blending seamlessly with the earthy hues of the island. Low-lying structures hug the contours of the land, minimizing visual impact while maximizing sea views. Inside, the aesthetic is a refined take on rustic simplicity: oak timber, unpolished marble, and straw accents create a palette of soft neutrals that echo the natural world. Despite the back-to-nature ethos, touches of urban sophistication—like vintage turntables and marble bathrooms—add a modern edge. Outdoor spaces are as integral as indoor ones, with infinity pools, shaded terraces, and rain showers inviting guests to live in harmony with the elements.

island exploration
Take a Fiat 500 to the charming village (chora), where labyrinthine streets and bougainvillea-draped houses reveal the island’s traditional heart. Hike along ancient trails, dive into turquoise waters, or set sail on one of Gundari’s private boats to discover hidden coves and neighboring islands.
foodie haven
Farm-to-table dining by a Michelin-starred chef, a cliffside spa using local herbs, and cocktails crafted by Athens’ best mixologists.
Eco-design
The resort’s construction involved the careful preservation and replanting of over 600 indigenous plants, and ongoing conservation efforts focus on protecting local wildlife. The property is designed to minimize light pollution, preserving the island’s dark skies for stargazing. Gundari is committed to minimising its footprint wherever possible.
Culinary sustainability
Farm-to-table dining. Locally sourced ingredients.
Waste, water, and energy management
Solar energy powers the resort’s hot water and infinity pools, while all wastewater is biologically treated and recycled for irrigation. Gundari’s fleet of electric vehicles and bicycles further reduces its environmental footprint, aligning with its goal of becoming a near-zero-waste operation. Gundari also actively monitors its carbon and participates in a certification program through Earthcheck.
