A remote, luxurious tented camp in the Palmwag Reserve in the heart of black rhino land
A sumptuous outpost in an otherworldly desert landscape, Desert Rhino Camp offers comfortable Meru-style tents and a communal area that overlooks a sweeping plain dotted with welwitschia, Namibia’s national plant. Welcome the night with sundowners and fellow guests around the campfire, sharing stories and marveling at the impossibly starry sky above.
On game drives, look for desert-adapted lions, elephants, zebras, spotted hyaenas, giraffes, and antelope. And Africa's largest free-ranging populations of critically endangered black rhinos can be tracked on foot or by vehicle from the camp.
“It’s not just a job for me to support my family. It is also the huge difference nature makes to my community. It’s a pleasure for me to give and share my knowledge.”
—Bons Roman, local guide at Desert Rhino Camp (Wilderness Safaris)
