Hoanib Valley Camp

Kaokoland, Namibia

Namibia / Kaokoland / Hoanib Valley Camp

A boutique eco-friendly tented safari camp overlooking a large expanse of stunning desert in the heart of Kaokoland

Elegant and intimate, Hoanib Valley Camp sits on the bank of the Obias River, a magical spot for observing lions, elephants, and giraffes parading among the ana trees. The area is also a prime spot for stargazing, so count on magnificent dining under the stars and sitting around the campfire at the end of each day.

The spacious tented rooms, elevated on decks and equipped with en suite bathrooms and private verandas, offer a simple aesthetic that harmonizes perfectly with the rugged landscape. Guests can truly immerse themselves in the desert wilderness while enjoying luxurious comfort.

“The Hoanib River and its surrounds are so unique, with giraffe and many other large mammals surviving in a landscape of fewer than 100 millimeters of rainfall per year.”

—Dr. Julian Fennessy, partner (and foremost giraffe expert)

the look.

Six luxury canvas tents are raised on wooden platforms and stylishly decorated with natural, earthy tones and stylish African décor. A palette of muted colors throughout the camp complements the area's naturally occurring tones and blends seamlessly into the environment. The work of Namibian craftsmen and women is celebrated in artwork and furniture, while a sprawling bed and separate lounge area lend to the luxuriously chill vibe. The ensuite bathrooms have a flush toilet, washbasin, and indoor and outdoor showers. Decks are constructed of wood, bamboo, and a 70% recycled material composite. Wooden steps lead up to a covered veranda with directors' chairs and beanbags for soaking in the dramatic valley views.
