Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge

Windhoek & Surroundings, Namibia

Namibia / Windhoek & Surroundings / Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge

A barefoot safari-chic getaway in the red dunes of the Kalahari

Sitting in a dry pan amidst the burnt orange dunes of the surrounding desert, the Kalahari Dunes Lodge offers pure rustic charm. Circular thatched-roof stone huts, all quirkily named after wildlife found on the reserve, contain cloud-like beds covered with embroidered quilts, polished wooden floors with animal skin rugs, and beautifully finished red mosaic bathrooms. And spectacular hiking begins steps away with signposted trails to sunset spots, where you'll see wildebeest, zebra, and even a giraffe, all prowling undisturbed across the reserve.

Come sundown, the restaurant and bar area twinkles with fairy lights, enticing guests to enjoy a wide selection of local wines, delicious food, and (in winter) a roaring fire. Truly memorable evenings are in order, especially if eland or oryx are spotted chomping on wild grass from the nearby floodlit dry lake.

“Ondili embodies responsible tourism through a range of low-impact, environmentally friendly establishments situated in some of Namibia’s most pristine and ecologically sensitive landscapes.”
