Shipwreck Lodge

Skeleton Coast, Namibia

Namibia / Damaraland & Skeleton Coast / Shipwreck Lodge

A splurge-worthy, uniquely designed shipwreck in the desolate sand dunes of the Skeleton Coast

A group of honey-colored, quirky shelters dotted among the dunes with mesmerizing views, Shipwreck Lodge sits in Skeleton Coast National Park, a place shrouded in mystery, profound silence, and swirling clouds of mist. Designed to mirror the environment and resemble a shipwreck, the cabins offer pure understated luxury with enchanting, whimsical touches. Among them is a contemporary lounge and restaurant featuring a vast wraparound deck that provides spectacular ocean views.

It’s an exquisite base from which to explore the natural and rugged surroundings of windswept plains and lofty dunes, or join an extraordinary game drive, birdwatching hike, or excursion to the extraordinary clay castles. Then, end your day with a cocktail in the dunes and sink into the profound silence.

“It is crucial for us to offer a sustainable getaway with a low footprint to our visitors.”

the look.

Each solar-powered cabin is equipped with a plush velvet day bed, perfect for immersing oneself in the captivating views of both sea and desert. They also offer a king-sized bed, a cozy bar area that doubles as a writing space, a wood-burning stove, and a stylish bathroom featuring a porthole window. The interiors, adorned in plush shades of blue and burgundy, are thoughtfully designed to reflect the ever-changing moods of the sea. Whimsical details are scattered throughout, from chipboard walls to intricate whalebone accents and uniquely pitched windows, evoking the appearance of being cast onto the sandy landscape. As for the main lodge, where beverages and meals are served, it boasts a charmingly designed collection of mismatched furniture and a spacious wraparound deck.

The cabins were built with sustainable timber, recycled plastic isotherm insulation, and wooden nails — easily disassembled, it could all be removed quickly without a trace, leaving virtually no footprint.
