Villa Vouno

Skopelos, Greece

Greece / Skopelos / Villa Vouno

A cluster of delightful Scandi-chic stone villas perched on a pine-forested hill overlooking the Aegean

Plucked straight out of a Dwell magazine spread, these stone villas are all about clean lines, natural materials, and exquisite design. They are built in the traditional Sporades style, with red-tiled roofs and rough-cut stone walls, and surrounded by manicured gardens flush with pear, pomegranate, lemon, fig, and almond trees.

Interiors are light-filled, with white-washed walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, vaulted wood ceilings, and polished concrete floors — an island sanctuary offering maximum views with minimum environmental impact.

“This eco-friendly collection of cottages is immersed in nature. Peaceful serene and beautiful.”

the look.

Spaces are minimalist and defined by natural woven mats, mid-century modern furnishings, hanging hand-blown glass lights, upcycled wood, and pops of color to keep it playful. Scandi-chic bedrooms offer comfortable beds with crisp white linens and sleek bathrooms rich in polished concrete. Villa is surrounded by flowering gardens, thyme-scented fields, a stunning pool, and amazing views over the sea, scanning from the south Evia, Skiathos, Volos, Mount Olympus, and Alonissos to the north.

the experience.

nature + detox

Wake to the sound of cicadas and goat bells and welcome the day with a dip in the pool.

beach + hikes+ villages

Venture out to far-flung Perivoliou Beach or the cliff-flanked white sand beaches of Hovolo (accessible only by foot). And definitely venture up the winding steps to see the famous Mama Mia church (Agios Ioannis Kastri) — you’ll find it much smaller than it looks in the movie! Hike the various trails and goat paths surrounding the villa, or head out to the sleepy town of Glossa to soak up the local ambiance. Finally, be sure to spend a day exploring the lovely port town of Skopelos and climb to the tippy top along its northern side for spectacular sunset views.

design

Indulge your Insta-feed with plenty of drool-worthy shots of the interiors and the stunning infinity pool.

great local eats

For foodies, head out to the well-known (and star-studded) Agnanti restaurant. Be sure to ask owner Nikos Stamatakis about the history of his family’s restaurant and check out the Kitchen Lab (run by Agnanti) to learn from the masters in the art of Greek cooking.

Eco-design

Tastefully designed to blend into the natural environment.

Waste, Water, and Energy Management

Rainwater is collected via the gutters into a central underground tank, pumped up to each house, and heated by solar panels. Each space is completely isolated, making it cool in summer and warm in winter.
