Artsy eco-boutique getaway perched on the side of the lush, overgrown cliffs overlooking the majestic Lake Atitlán
Hugging the azure shore of Lake Atitlán, this tiny eco-hotel packs a punch with its wow factor vistas and carefully curated collection of hand-picked Guatemalan artwork, locally made furniture, and whimsy accents.
Full-on rustic, the spaces feel intimate and welcoming, with private balconies and terraces that give it a much-welcomed indoor-outdoor feel. Lush Atitlán is the antithesis of soulless and cookie-cutter.

“Built organically onto a natural reserve mountainside in San Marcos La Laguna Atitlán, Lush is home for the traveler who knows the art of comfort and respect for the environment.”

the look.
A feast for the senses and ultra-tactile, guests will delight in eyeing up the artwork, locally handcrafted furniture, richly woven textiles, and ornately carved entry doors. Rustic-luxe interiors blend warm woods and white stucco walls with a scattering of black and white photographs and Guatemalan trinkets throughout. Cascading garden terraces, flower-filled courtyards, and vine-covered balconies showcase the spectacular lake views. Weathered and beautiful, Lush Atitlán is the epitome of Guatemalan rustic-chic.

ethnic art
Marvel at the display of art, ceramics, and handcrafted furnishings (and don’t miss all colorfully painted doors).
immersion
Book a cooking class at the Mayan Kitchen Cooking Class (San Pedro) or the cooking school (Santa Cruz), or join a Barrio tour with Shangri-la Atitlán in San Marcos, ending up in their coffee lab — the perfect spot to learn the art of bean-to-cup coffee roasting. And if nature is calling, hire a lancha (boat) to tour the Lake (with or without a local guide) but be mindful of the weather and possible winds.
