La Fortuna Atitlán

Lake Atitlán, Guatemala

Guatemala / Lake Atitlan / La Fortuna Atitlan

A collection of Balinese-style palapas set amidst the lush jungle with unobstructed views of Lake Atitlán

Hugging the shores of Lake Atitlán, these palapa-thatched stone casitas offer the perfect jungle refuge to press pause, detox, and slow down. Thoughtfully designed using native materials and local touches, rooms are boho-chic and delightfully intimate, furnished with handcrafted wood furniture and decorated in neutral earthy hues.

Interiors are simple but tasteful, with king-sized beds cloaked in mosquito nets and floor-to-ceiling windows blurring the lines between inside and out. Casitas open out onto stone verandahs with tiny plunge pools overlooking the volcano-ringed lake beyond.

“La Fortuna is a genuine eco-hotel. We are 100% off-grid, using solar energy to power our property. Additionally, we use an anaerobic biodigester so we can dispose of our waste with the most minimal impact. Each bungalow has been constructed using sustainable and locally sourced materials, including the bamboo which is grown on the property. The furniture throughout the hotel was designed and custom-built by the owners with local craftsmen”
