Cabanon Concrete Retreat
Crete, Greece
An off-grid design-worthy contemporary sanctuary in the hillsides of Crete
Plucked straight out of a Dwell magazine, this swanky concrete bolthole is a true refuge for lovers of solitude and nature: a bold fusion of monochrome concrete, warm woods, and Scandi-chic minimalism designed to bring the outdoors in.
Inspired by Le Corbusier and designed by a Greek artist and Swedish art curator based on minimum dimensions-maximum comfort, this concrete retreat is all about “a scale of Mediterranean dimensions.” Tiny in size, yet big in aesthetics and design.
“Things here are simple. We like the minimal style of life, a sustainable slow living.”

the look.
Stylish light-filled spaces are tastefully pared-back blending earthy hues, polished concrete, and bleached wood trim. Comfy beds perched on raised white-washed platforms, built-in sofas flanked by mid-century modern chairs, and a scattering of leafy plants fill the space. The kitchen fridge is ready-stocked and brimming with local produce. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows frame the tangle of olive trees, and tiny wooden decks are perfectly positioned for stunning sunset views.
