Greece / Peloponnese / Kinsterna Hotel

A Byzantine mansion flaunting vintage-chic elegance in the outskirts of Monemvasia

This stylish abode, set within thick stone walls dating back to the 17th century exudes old-world charm without compromising comfort. Its Byzantine heritage has been recast following a style narrative of preservation, blending original features with modern-day luxuries. Vaulted rooms are all unique and creatively restored with exposed stone walls, dome-shaped ceilings, Byzantine arches, and elaborate Ottoman accents.

The vibe is rustic-medieval-luxe, with rooms adorned in cast-iron furnishings, old stone fireplaces, and intricate mosaic stenciling — a muted palette of eggshell and copper greens. Grounds include a majestic pillared courtyard and an expansive pool lined with comfy sun-loungers and silvered olive trees.

“For many centuries, this property, which later witnessed the revival of Kinsterna manor, was a model of autonomy and sustainability, functioning harmoniously within a rich and lively natural environment…These traditional practices and occupations — from a time when communities were economically independent — lie at the heart of Kinsterna’s model of sustainability and of its owners’ philosophy and vision.”
