A creative writer’s seaside retreat nestled amid the cypress and olive trees of Mani
Nestled amidst olive groves and flowered gardens near the seaside village of Kardymili, this storied villa — affectionately known as “Paddy’s home” — is part museum, part summer rental for the lucky few. In a nod to the British travel writer’s love of travel, the residence oozes old-world charm awash in well-turned books, vintage collectibles, historical maps, and tales of adventure and exploration.
Rooms are stylish and tranquil, decorated with loads of love and admiration for all things nostalgic.
“The restoration works at the building, and the landscape surroundings have been completed so that the original character of the property is meticulously preserved. Aria Hotels, in collaboration with the Benaki Museum, have undertaken operation of the property during the three-month rental period with particular sensitivity to its unique legacy, offering guests a rare residential experience of authentic Greek hospitality.”

the look.
This Byzantine villa meets English country house is brimming with travel memories, old books, and eclectic art. The interiors build on the villa’s existing patina with charming sleep quarters decked out in warm woods, creamy neutrals, and dove-gray tiled flooring. Light-filled living spaces feel sophisticated and intimate, layered with time-worn furniture, ancient libraries, and reading nooks throughout. Stone terraces surround the villa with a delightfully inviting pool framed with flowing gardens perfumed with lemon, olive, fig, and cypress trees.
