Jaw-dropping views and spectacular mountain villages

While Svaneti boasts the quintessential Alpine experience, with jaw-dropping views and spectacular mountain villages, Tusheti offers raw, unspoiled beauty that's hard to access but well worth the effort. Picture undulating green valleys, alpine meadows, forested hillsides punctuated with stone watchtowers, and rugged mountains as far as the eye can see.

The area is difficult to access and best explored with a local tour guide who knows the area and can manage the logistics.

Experiences in Tusheti

the highlights.

Venture out on your own or with a guide and trek through ancient villages, mountain passes, and along the Chechnya border (take your passport as you will need to clear customs along the journey).

Saddle up and grab a horse (or packhorse) to accompany you on the many mountain trails (locals always offer their horses for various treks).

Visit the town of Omalo and explore Keselo Fortress. The majority of guesthouses use the power provided by solar panels, which means that sometimes they run out of hot water.

Explore Shatili in the Khevsureti area (an overnight is possible, but do not expect luxury).

Hike the breathtakingly beautiful circuit: Omalo (base camp)—Shenaqo—Diklo (overnight)—Dartlo (overnight)—Kvavlo—Nakaicho pass—Khevsureti.
