A fusion of tropical chic and Old World elegance in the heart of Havana
Smack dab in the middle of old town Havana, this meticulously restored colonial residence oozes Old World charm without compromising an ounce of creature comfort. Light-filled living spaces build on the existing patina, layered with artisan-made furniture, intricate mosaic-tiled floors, and colonial-chic doors that open out onto the most charming of plant-filled courtyards — a truly unique stay with character and a strong sense of place.
And our hat goes off to visionaries Jamie McDonald, Phil Winser, and Yunior Riveron for restoring this old casa to its former glory, using the help of local artisans, carpenters, and talented ceramicists. And it was not surprising to learn that the residence’s stunning artwork is plucked straight from the nearby art studios.
“Stay anywhere other than Gardens, and you risk missing out on what's best about luxury travel — attention to detail.”
— Gardens Havana
the look.
True to its name, this stylish casa is chock full of greenery, sky-high palms, and the comfiest of courtyard day-beds for relaxing (something you will pine for after walkabouts in Havana). Interiors are tranquil and swathed in earthy tones, rich textures, and custom-made furniture, with spaces defined by timeworn elegance and subtle pops of retro. Think high ceilings, shuttered wooden doors, colorful mosaic-tiled floors, and the grandest of pianos consuming the art-filled entry salon. And the house offers plenty of outdoor and indoor nooks with playful gallery walls showcasing local artwork and quirky sketches.
Light and airy bedrooms are decked out in pastel hues, warm-colored woods, and massive king-size beds draped in elegant flowy white nets. But, the boutique-chic bathrooms steal the show with their exquisitely tiled walls, rain showers, salvaged copper fixtures, and polished concrete sinks.
Luxurious simplicity at its finest.

secret insider guide to Havana’s hotspots
In every room, you will find Claire Boobbyer’s pocket guide to all of Havana’s cultural hotspots. The hoteliers also offer a secret insider guide (accessible to guests only). Staff is available at all times to recommend and organize tours. Some of our favorite hot spots include dinners or drinks at a refurbished cooking oil factory, El Cocinero (the film set for Strawberries and Chocolate), La Guarida, and the utterly charming Michifu. And for night owls, the 2:00 am drag show at Cabaret Las Vegas is not to be missed.
